Mom's Mouth Watering Apple Pie
Apples are the cousins of roses. In fact, apples, pears, and cherries are just some of the fruits that originate from the same family tree as the rose. Beautiful family roots and a great source of fiber and Vitamin C, too. No wonder we love apples so much!
Apple with heart in the middle
Time: 60 minutes
• 8-10 apples, mix of Cortland, Macoun and Rome. Cored and cut into large chunks.
• 1 cup of sugar
• 1/4 tsp. salt
• 1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
• 2 tbl. flour
• 1 frozen pie crust
(Pillsbury, it comes out delish!)
Mix sugar, salt, cinnamon and flour together
Add apples to the mix. Place apples in pie plate and pile high
Add a few dots of butter in between apples
Place top crust over apples and seal around the edges using a fork. Cut 1˝ knife slits in a star on top to let out steam.
Dip fingers in milk and spread on pie crust. Lightly sprinkle with sugar.
Place pie on baking sheet, bake 15 min. at 450°
Add tin foil around the crust edges and bake for an additional 45 min. at 350°. Crust should be golden brown. Enjoy!
